Who is this qualification for?
The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for beauty therapists.
This qualification is based on beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline prior to undertaking this qualification. Your centre will have ensured that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification.
This qualification is the only Level 4 qualification offered by VTCT in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments. The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense pulse light and laser treatments. This qualification requires you to develop skills to carry out IPL and laser treatments. This qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
What does this qualification cover?
This qualification has been specifically designed for the 18+ age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare you for employment. You will have your skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use laser an light treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal and to manage the health, safety and security of the salon. The full list of units is presented in the learner Record of Assessment book (ROA) (specification) and the Qualification Structure tab. All units are mandatory.
What could this qualification lead to?
When you have successfully completed this qualification you will be in a position to aspire to promotion as an advanced beauty therapist providing laser and IPL services within a beauty salon.Further study qualifications could include:
– VTCT Level 4 Award in Physiology for Advanced Beauty Therapy
– VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Salon Management
– VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy
– VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management. This qualification is not part of an apprenticeship.
Who supports this qualification?This qualification has been reviewed by The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) who have confirmed that this qualification is fit for purpose and will enable learners to undertake the specific job role of specialist cosmetic camouflage make-up artist within the beauty or healthcare sectors. Further information on BABTAC membership can be found on their website.
How do I pay for this course?
Self-funded fee is £1,850 for this course. We can offer you an instalment plan, so you can spread the cost of your course until you complete. You also have the option to pay with Paypal. You can cover the cost of your course and have 2 months to pay it off, interest free! Or you can spread it over a longer period with interest.
