FAQ

Acne FAQs

Most patients will not require post treatment care. You should, however, completely avoid sun exposure for up to a week and then use a sunscreen with a minimum spf of 50 on the areas treated, as your skin will be extra sensitive for a few weeks following the treatment.

This really depends on your skin condition. Improvement can be seen with every treatment, although a course of five treatments about four weeks apart generally gives the best results.

No. We prefer to treat the skin when it is closest to its natural colour. Any sun exposure should be avoided eight weeks prior to the treatments, and fake tanning should be avoided four weeks prior to treatment.

Your skin may look slightly flushed. This mild ‘glow’ will usually disappear after 24 hours. In some rare cases some swelling or superficial bruising or crusting may occur whilst the skin is rejuvenating to reveal a brighter and fresher new you.

As no anaesthetic is required and individuals vary in their thresholds of pain, it is difficult to predict how much, if any, pain a particular client will feel when he or she receives the treatment. To date, patients have describe a wide variety of sensations from a slight pinch to how skin feels after too much sun exposure.

Following an initial discussion with our practitioner to clearly establish your expectations, we will check your medical history with you to ensure there are no reasons for you not to have the treatment. We will ask you to sign a consent form to confirm that you have understood the potential benefits and risks associated with this treatment.

With your well-being in mind, we will always perform a patch test (an IPL treatment on a very small area of skin) prior to a full treatment, to rule out any sensitivities or adverse effects you may have in response to the treatment. Following this, we can then book a convenient time for you to return for your next and full session, normally within 48 hours.

Acne most commonly develops when skin cells don’t shed properly – the cells stick together and plug up the pores. This blockage encourages an oil called sebum and a bacteria called propionibacterium (P. acnes) to build up in the skin pores, leading to inflammation. The oil is produced by the sebaceous glands.

Cavitation FAQs

It has a warming effect but is not painful at all.

Ultrasound Cavitation is not a method to lose weight but to sculpt those localized areas that don’t seem to improve with diet and exercise.

The body will eliminate fat of a session in approximately 3 to 5 days. Ideally you should have a treatment after 72 hours.

Your therapist will be able to indicate how many sessions depending on the area and volume. Usually 6 to 10 sessions are needed but this will vary from person to person.

Cryo Lipo FAQs

Each session is 30 – 45 minutes per area, depending on the thickness of the area, and how quickly you respond to the cooling technology. Your treatment will be tailored to your individual requirements. Additional time may be required if you require more than one area.

One session is sufficient for most areas. If you choose that you would like a further reduction in the same area, preferable waiting time between sessions is approx. 28-56 days.

Clinical studies on Cryolipolysis have shown reduction of fat is between 20% to 40%. Results will vary on the individual, the thickness of the fat deposits in each area, and the lifestyle maintained after treatment. Those that follow the aftercare advice, will get the best results.

This depends on the individual, the fat thickness, and the area treated. Changes happen over a number of weeks, 12 weeks being the estimated time to see the maximum result, although some of our clients begin to see changes at around 2 weeks. In clinical trials 12 weeks post treatment, 9 out of 10 people saw an undeniable reduction in the treated area.

People are almost always worried that it will be uncomfortable but tell us afterwards that there was no pain and minimal discomfort, and that it wasn’t as cold as they thought it would be. Clients often fall asleep during treatment. Your comfort is always of the upmost importance to us.

The beauty of Cryolipolysis is there are generally few side effects. The treated area may feel slightly tender for a short period after but it is very rare to have extended redness after the treatment. You can resume normal daily activities although must avoid heavy exercise on the area for 24 hours.

Diode Laser FAQs

The diode laser is proven to work on hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types and tanned skin. To achieve a satisfactory level of clearance, 3-5 treatments are typically required.

The diode laser system safely and effectively treats all skin types (Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI) as well as tanned skin. For darker skin types and people with tans, appropriate parameters are set: generally lower fluencies and lower pulse widths are set to prevent epidermis damage. Using the appropriate treatment parameters, however, people with all skin types can benefit from diode laser hair removal.

Diode Laser Hair Removal provides enhanced comfort during treatment, minimal risk of infection, speed and accuracy and also minimizes skin irritation that other methods may create. Diode Laser is a precise instrument, the light parameters that can be adjusted to damage only the hair follicle while minimally affecting the surrounding skin.

Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods that must be repeated on a frequent basis and none of those methods can successfully reduce ingrown. Diode Laser Hair Removal offers permanent hair reduction and treatment of ingrown hairs.

The system emits near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the melanin located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for only a fraction of a second. The duration of each pulse is long enough to damage the follicle, without damaging the surrounding tissue, thanks also to the unique, patented contact-cooling handpiece, that protect the skin by conductive cooling during the laser energy delivery.

HIFU Skin Tightening and Body Sculpting FAQs

No preparation is needed. Ultrasound gel will be applied to cleansed skin. The handpiece will then be used to deliver ultrasound energy beneath the skin. Some patients may feel the energy at this point. The physician will work with you to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Each treatments takes 60 to 90 minutes, but may be performed within 30 minutes. Some patients report feeling a slight prickling or heat under the skin. Cooling is not required. Anesthetics will be provided to ensure patient comfort as tolerance levels vary, but treatment isn’t unbearably painful.

You can get right back to your day — there is no downtime required. Collagen production will kick off after only one session, with results appearing over the following months. Your skin will be healthier, stronger, and younger-looking, without any unnatural, drastic changes.

You might see slight redness and/or swelling post-treatment, and might feel some tingling. These will disappear within hours. While the results will not be as dramatic as with surgical facelifts, HIFU skin tightening is clinically proven to be safe, with natural and gradual rejuvenation effects

Most patients need only one session. Results will appear over 2 to 3 months or even up to 6 months following treatment. Your body will continue to produce fresh collagen over one year. After that, you may wish to continue touch-up treatments.

This treatment is suitable for all skin types over the age of 30 and can help with preventing the results of aging.

IPL FAQs

Most patients will not require post treatment care. You must, however, use SPF 50 Sunscreen on the areas treated, as your skin will be sensitive for a few weeks following the treatment.

This depends on your skin condition. Improvement can be seen with every treatment, although a course of six treatments every 6-8 weeks is the general treatment time.

Your skin may look slightly flushed. This mild redness will usually disappear after 24 hours.

As no anaesthetic is required and individuals vary in their thresholds of pain, it is difficult to predict how much, if any, pain a particular client will feel when he or she receives the treatment.

Microdermabrasion FAQs

Microdermabrasion can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, helps fight acne and remove acne scarring, evens skin tone, eliminates white and black heads, minimizes large pores and revitalizes dull skin. Microdermabrasion helps skin regeneration by increasing its elasticity and collagen production. The skin looks fresh and feels smooth as soon as treatment is over. With microdermabrasion, there is no recovery time and no discomfort.

A typical microdermabrasion face treatment takes between 20 and 30 minutes. However, if you want your neck or other parts of the body treated, it may last up to an hour.

Microdermabrasion treatment is painless. Some patients have reported some itchiness or stinginess when micro crystals came in contact with their skin. You may feel some discomfort around the eyes, but as microdermabrasion treatment continues, your skin gets used to crystal flow. It feels like the mild facial massage from a special wand. Your face may appear a little pinkish in the first 24 hours, but you should not experience any itchiness or pain.

That depends on your skin. Some patients reported changes after the first treatment. Your skin will look cleaner and healthier after a few microdermabrasion treatments but major changes (like reduction of wrinkles and scars) become visible after 5 treatments.

You will receive a sunscreen hydrating moisturizer after microdermabrasion, to avoid sun damage after leaving the doctor’s office. Some redness might occur on treated areas, but they generally disappear after a few hours. During the first 24 hours, your skin may feel dry, similarly to effects of a mild wind or sunburn. Use lots of moisturizer during the first few days. Avoid sun exposure for at least a week after the treatment, don’t use any peeling products for the next 3-4 days and avoid full-face make up (liquid foundation or pressed powder).

Microneedling FAQS

RF Needling does break the skin, so pin point bleeding is common. You will experience redness, that may last between 24-72 hours post treatment.

At the time of having the needling done, you can expect to feel a warm sensation in the skin. This indicates to us the treatment is working effectively. Immediately after, your skin will be flushed and sensitive to extreme temperatures and UV.

Results are visible approx. 4 weeks after first treatment.

For best results course of 3 treatments, 2 weeks apart, are advised.

Reasonably low down time after the treatment (generally about 48-72 hours of mild swelling, 24 hours of redness).

Nd:Yag Laser FAQs

The long-pulsed Nd:Yag laser is the safest, most effective laser for darker skin types. This laser can effectively remove hair in all skin types, but it is the workhorse laser for darker complexions like darker Hispanic, Indian or any African American skin. Hundreds of patients have been treated, often with the darkest of complexions, very safely and effectively.

Mature hemangiomas can be rather thick, namely part of it is superficial and part is deep. The Nd:YAG head can be used to reach both the superficial and the deeper parts of the lesion. By selecting the correct pulse duration and energy value, excessive heat production is eliminated. Following a few sessions with the Xlase Nd:YAG, most of the hemangiomas can be successfully treated.

Nd:YAG laser offers important benefits over injection therapy. Nd:YAG therapy allows treatment of injectable leg veins as well as matting and small spider vessels that are often too small to inject. In addition laser therapy is fast, less painful; minimally invasive without needles; and typically does not require compression wrapping.

Laser hair removal is designed to permanently remove unwanted body hair by using the light energy from a laser.Unwanted hair is a common problem in women and men. Shaving, waxing, and tweezing only produce temporary results and can generally only be carried out on relatively small areas.

Photo Rejuvenation FAQs

There may be mild discomfort during the treatment, but most patients tolerate removal of dilated blood vessels or age spots/freckles and fine lines very easily. The first treatment is usually the “zingiest.” As your skin begins to clear, the treatments usually become even more comfortable. Treatments usually take 30-90 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.

For veins, generally, the skin looks slightly redder after the treatment for two to five days. Makeup can be used starting right after the treatment, as long as it is applied and removed very gently. Rarely, there is bruising, which can take 1-2 weeks to resolve.

For freckles and age spots, the spots generally look darker for 3-7 days. Crusting can occur, which may last up to ten days. The lesions will then begin to clear and will generally be resolving at one month. Remember, it takes an average of 3-5 treatments to clear age spots.

After your first treatment, you can expect to see some redness, darkening of brown spots, and light swelling. These symptoms will resolve in several hours to one week. Makeup can be immediately applied, if desired. After the treatment, your skin will feel smoother and have a more even tone. A gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing, age spots, and fine lines will be more visible after each treatment.

The main side effects are mild, temporary swelling, redness, an accentuation of the brown spots, crusting, and an occasional bruise or small superficial blister (like a sunburn blister).
